Holidays homework

 

Hello class,

How are you? I hope you're enjoying the free time to read, watch TV, listen to music or just... do nothing. This is the best part of holidays!

Still, it's a pity to forget everything you studied until now. So here are some things you can practise when you've got some time during the holidays.

• read about Christmas films - have you seen these films?
• practice your reading about films and entertainment, by doing the tasks
• improve your writing skills
• improve your listening about shopping for clothes
• listen to music improve your English - check these bands and songs
• revise some prepositions

One lesson before Christmas holiday!

Hi class,

In our last lesson we played a spelling game and we revised clothing vocabulary. We also did some writing practise for the KET exam.

For next time please write the letter to Santa. You mustn't forget writing about:

•  what present you'd like
• what can you do with it
• why you like it
• why you think you should get it 

Here's a link where you can find some Christmas vocabulary. Below the first exercise there are nice ways to test yourself (Image match, balloon burst, find the pairs, hangman).

Homework for Monday 15 Dec

Hi class,

Today we revised the use of past continuous and we learned some clothing vocabulary, nouns and adjectives to describe it.

We also did some practise on describing clothing and spelling.

This is your homework* for Monday:

- Exercise 7 from p. 47 in the book.
- exercise 1 and 5 from the photocopy I gave you.
- write sentences with the following words and expressions: " doesn't mind", "in the sale", to stay in fashion", "to try on" and "in the same colour"
- the worksheet about Past Continuous

Homework for Dec 12

Hi class,

Today we did some Listening practice (part 4&5), after we revised numbers, dates and the alphabet. Please revise them even at home, because their are so important in the Listening and not only!

We started Unit 7 today by speaking about our oldest/newest piece of clothing and we read 3 texts about the Converse boots, the baseball cap and the t-shirt.

We also worked on present & past continuous for expressing temporary actions.
Nicoletta and Miriam, since you missed the lesson, please study on your own lesson 7.1. Next time we will practise more using present & past continuous.

Here's an example:

Present continuous:  Helen usually wears jeans, but today she's wearing a beautiful red dress - it's her birthday. (temporary - only for today)

Past continuous: In the 1940's and 1950's men were wearing suits on the street every day. (temporary, from the 60's - present stopped wearing suits every day).

Your homework for next time is:

• watch the video about the jetski champ, from my last post, and write down new vocabulary.
• exercises 2,3 and 4 from the fotocopy I gave you today.
• exercise 8 from the book, p. 45.

Homework for Dec 10

Hi everyone,

In our last lesson we basically finished Unit 6 about "Hobbies and leisure". In class I gave you as homework exercices 1, 2 and 3 from the photocopies given to you.

I found an interesting video for you, about a teenager called Jack who loves jetskiing. He's only 14 years-old and he became the UK Freestyle champion! Watch the video to discover this sport and Jack's story!

Watch the video, do the tasks and write down new vocabulary from the text, such as: it isn't his thing, adrenaline rush, sketchy etc. Look for them in the dictionary. I will ask you about them in class.

Revision weekend

Hi class,

This is the revision weekend! Remember to go back and revise all the lessons we have done so far: Units 1-6.1.
Here are some links to help you revise (do the tasks below them). Click on the the purple words.

- Food
- some/any
- countable/uncountable nouns

- comparative/superlative adjectives
- past simple - irregular verbs

- at the library vocabulary you can use the Hint button to help you discover the words

- Writing an e-mail

Don't forget revising the collocations that go with the verbs: do, make and take.

Do as much as you can of the exercises here. The rainy weather this weekend will surely help you with studying! ;)

Books and the Magic of Books

This year we started our series of books with "The Walkabout", the story of two American children who survive a plane crash and who are helped by an Australian aboriginal boy. This encounter changes their lives forever.
Books are magical! Do you like books? Who did first introduce you to books?

Homework for Wednesday, March 6

Hi girls,

Did you see the film "The Life of Pi"? I was in the cinemas in Catania at the beginning of this year. I saw it and it was great! I totaly recommend it :) Here is the amazing trailer:

The film is based on a fantastic novel by a Canadian author, Yann Martel. Here you can read the whole story and do the exercises  below the text.

Enjoy it and be ready to talk about the book/ film in class.
