Homework for December 18

Hello class,

Next time will be our last lesson for this year, soon holidays are knocking at our doors... Yeepeee!

Today we worked on phrasal verbs, we did some practice on Speaking Part 2 and we watched two Youtube videos of candidates doing the exam.
For next time please do the Writing Part 1 p. 33 (exercises 1-5).

As Christmas is getting near here's a nice text an English girl Emma who lives in France wrote about the English Christmas traditions. Choose 6 new words, look up for them in the dictionary and write about 100 words, comparing the Italian Christmas traditions with Emma's text. Use the new 6 words in your writing.
For example: We don't eat minced pies in Sicily, but we cook scacciata or lasagna for Christmas! :)

PS: for all the students who missed the lesson today, please do Phrasal verbs ex. 1-4 pages 30-31.

That's all for now!

Homework for December 11

Hello class,

I was happy to meet you parents today and learn new things about you! ;) You are lucky to have such wonderful parents! :)

For next time, which is next Thursday (Monday 8th is holiday, hurray!!), please write 5-6 sentences about the time capsule. For Enrico, who missed the lesson, follow the example below, choose six objects in the box and write the sentences.

Now I'd like to propose you something new: I made a class account and password for a website where you can read ebooks online.

Go to Oxford Owl and click on My Class Login  and type PET TEENS for username and GIGACATANIA for password. Then in the Book Search type Mythical Beasts and click on the book that appears. It's a story inspired by a traditional Viking myth. Read 5 or more pages every week, look up for words in the dictionary, but don't stop too often.

Enjoy your long weekend and see you next week!
Bye,
Silvia

Homework for November 24

Hello everyone,

As most of you already know, the "great" news is that on Modndy we're going to have a ... progress test! Don't worry, it will cover only things we studied in class, that is Unit 1 and 2.
So be good and revise Unit 1 and 2, the vocab, grammar and the exam tasks and you will probably get something similar.

You can practice the quantifiers here and here.

You can practice Listening Part 1 here.

Try to work on the collocations here and here. About collocations, there isn't an easy solution: you must learn them, make sentences with them and try to use them as much as possible in speaking.

That's all for now! Study but don't over-stress :)
Have a nice weekend!

Don't forget your English during the holidays!

Hello again my dears,

So that you don't forget your English during the summer months, don't be afraid to discover fun videos, texts and audios on http://learnenglishteens.britishcouncil.org

Don't forget to use the podcasts at http://learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/en/elementary-podcasts

It's also a good idea to make English/foreign friends on Facebook and chat with them in English. If you can, it's even better to skype them and speak face-to-face. But be careful and stay safe when chatting/skyping! It's always a good idea that your parents supervise you and definitely tell your parents if something strange happens!

It was so nice to have you as students! :)

Have great holidays and hope to see you all in September!

I'm getting ready for my cloudy English summer.

Homework for February 17th

Hello class,

One more day and it's weekend! Yahoooooo :)
But no weekend goes by without the English homework ;) So for Monday you have exercise 9 page 69 (book) and exercises 1 and 2 from the photocopy I gave you in class.

For next time, on a separate sheet of paper, I'd also like you to write 7 sentences about your favourite sportsman/sportswoman (if you don't have a one, choose any famous sportsperson).
  • write 3 facts about him/her (use present simple)
  • write 2 sentences about what he/she likes doing
  • write 2 information about his/her past (use past simple)
Please  write complex sentences (e.g. When Nadal was 12, he won the Spanish and European tennis championship for his age).

Click here to improve your reading - do the tasks below the poster.

Have a great weekend,
S

Homework for Thursday 13 February

Hello my favourite teens!

In our last lesson we used the passive in a communicative activity, we also did some exam practise (Reading Part 4) and we played the Hangman! :)

For tomorrow please do the Exam Folder p. 66-67 from the book.
Don't forget to write a message to your friend telling him/her about an unusual object you found.
Tell your friend:
  •  where you found it
  • what it looked like
  • what you did with it.
Write 25-35 words.

Do you know what day is on Friday? It's Valentine's Day!

How do you celebrate this special day? Read here how people in England celebrate it. Please do the tasks below, too.

We'll speak about it in class!
Bye for now,

Silvia

Listen to music and learn English

Hi class,

If you liked my lesson when we listened to Bruno Mars's song "It will rain", then here's a great link for you: http://www.lyricsgaps.com.

You can listen to your favourite songs, learn the words and practice English at the same time, any time, anywhere.

Just choose the song and then choose your level (beginner, intermediate and advanced). You can challenge your friends with a quiz or just have fun with karaoke. Why not?

Have fun!

Speaking practice lesson

Hi class,

It was great to finally have all 6 of you together in the lesson! Today we learnt about the Speaking paper in the KET exam. You found that there are two parts. Part 1 and Part 2.
Unfortunately the internet didn't work well, so I couldn't show you the videos. You can watch Rex and Nathan here :)   KET Speakin Part 1 and KET Speakin Part 2.

For Thursday please do exercises 2, 3 and 4 from Test 2 Training and from the book at page 61, do exercises 4 and 5 (make questions and write the answers).

PS: for Oriana - please get the "Units 5-8 Revision" page from Nicoletta and do the exercises for next time.

That's all folks,

See ya!

Hi everyone,

And welcome to class to Oriana and Enrico! :)
In our last lesson we talked about holiday plans and we used going to! Next summer some of you are going to travel to Spain or you are going to visit relatives in Australia.

We also use going to for making a future prediction and we watch a video with South-American students of English.
At the end we did some pronunciation practice.

For next time do exercise 8 (Reading) from the book and from pages 54-55 from the book, please do all the exercises from the Revision Unit. For exercise 1 (Speaking) answer the questions in written.

And the last thing, go the the video we watched in class and write 10 sentences with "going to".

See you all in class,
