Hello guys,
I hope you had a lovely week! Last time we watched and analysed a PET Speaking Part 1 video and we did some writing practice PET writing Part 1.
We also talked about Halloween, but, because of the internet connection, we couldn't watch the video. As I promised you, here it is: Bet You Didn't Know: Halloween
I gave you the text in class, so please watch the video and aswer the following questions:
1. When did Halloween begin?
2. What happened the night of Samhain?
3. What people do to keep ghosts away?
4. What does the word Halloween mean?
5. In your words, what was "souling"?
6. In your words, what was "guising"?
7. Who brought the Halloween traditions to America?
8. How much do the Americans spend on Halloween in a year?
Write full sentences (Subject + Verb +Object) on a separate sheet of paper. Please also check with a dictionary the meaning of the words: doorsteps, relatives, roaming, soul, pastries, revive, custom.
As homework do also pages 4, 5 and 6 (senza Listening) from this page.
Happy Halloween or just have a nice weekend! :)

Homework for October 30
Hello my fantastic PET teens,
How are you? Today we did lots of things: state verbs, uncountable words and quantifiers (many, much, a lot of ...) and Speaking Part 1! Wow!
Your homework for next time is:
- page 14-15, Speaking Part 1 exercises 1,2 and 4 . You can find pages 14-15 here.
- watch this video about the Speaking Part 1 exam, write and answer the questions and spot the errors in the candidates answers!
- since most of you like reading books and all of you love watching films, here's one for you: The Fault in Our Star. Watch the video and do the tasks below. Then check it out on the web and watch it at home!
PS: If the video is difficult, click on Transcript below the video and read the text.
Bye for now! :)

Don't forget your English during the holidays!
Hello again my dears,
So that you don't forget your English during the summer months, don't be afraid to discover fun videos, texts and audios on http://learnenglishteens.britishcouncil.org
Don't forget to use the podcasts at http://learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/en/elementary-podcasts
It's also a good idea to make English/foreign friends on Facebook and chat with them in English. If you can, it's even better to skype them and speak face-to-face. But be careful and stay safe when chatting/skyping! It's always a good idea that your parents supervise you and definitely tell your parents if something strange happens!
It was so nice to have you as students! :)
Have great holidays and hope to see you all in September!
I'm getting ready for my cloudy English summer.
